biography Looking at Richter now, no one would believe that he had once a loving family; one that consisted of a sweet older brother, doting parents and caring grandparents. Most would instead think that he's been a street kid all his life, though considering his childhood, that's probably not too wrong. Born to scientist parents, Richter was basically raised by his grandparents and older brother as his parents' work kept them busy and travelling around the region. Rarely being able to meet them, Richter never really felt a strong connection towards the couple, and would often ignore them when they did return to visit. This, however, changed when his parents' work shifted them to Ambrette Town, where they would be aiding in the fossil research center. Finally being able to be around their children, Richter's parents wasted no time to reconcile with the kids, and their first order of business was to plan their youngest child's fourth birthday party which was coming in a week. From his grandparents, Richter's parents knew that he loved nature, pokemon and...well, walking - the child, when not at home, could often be found jogging along the length of the beach or wandering around Route 8 with one of his grandparents' pokemon as his guardian. So they planned a trip to the aquarium on Richter's birthday, which would be followed by a walk around Ambrette Town and finally a birthday dinner. Richter loved it. By the time they returned home when the sun was sinking into the horizon, the boy was practically bouncing with happiness, his eyes glowing with excitement. It almost made his parents withhold his birthday gift, because they were so worried he wouldn't be able to sleep that night with that much energy! But they didn't, and when Richter laid eyes on the light grey and white egg, his parents received the tightest hug they've ever had in their life. This act, plus the following weekends of picnics, outings, and various other family activities, fixed Richter's relationship with his parents, and the family couldn't have been more tight, especially with the new addition of Richter's Minccino. But not all good things last, and when Richter was six, he lost nearly everything. It was a cold, dark night, and unlike other days, Richter's parents hadn't returned from work. But that was fine, they had earlier that day informed the rest of the family that they would be late, having to stay at the lab to wrap up unfinished research. The thing that wasn't fine, however, was the smoke-laden air that was wafting throughout the town, and the screams of fright that could be heard coming from the lab's direction. Richter, asleep during that time, wasn't aware of the chaos that was ongoing. It was only when his grandparents woke him with tears in their eyes did he come to know of what happened - his parents and older brother had perished in the fire which claimed a total of five lives, his older brother having entered the burning lab to attempt to help the scientists in their escape. (Of course they couldn't tell a young child that so bluntly, so his grandparents simply told him that his older brother and parents had left to go to heaven, and wouldn't be coming back.) He was distraught. How could they have left him? They promised him that they would be with him forever! Had they lied? The following days saw Richter cooped up in his room, surrounded by Minccino and his two new pokemon -his brother's Purrloin and Houndour whom he got along with very well before his brother's passing- as he mourned. It was hard for him to get over the loss, but after a long while (and his grandfather's words of 'you now have to look after your brother's pokemon, you know! What is he going to think when he finds out that you're just sitting there?'), he finally accepted that he wouldn't see his brother or parents again. It hurt, but it allowed him to move on, and slowly but surely, he started to return to his daily routine: wandering around, training his pokemon with his grandfather and studying. But without Richter's parents to support the family, things changed around the house, and Richter saw his grandparents start to take up jobs again in an effort to ensure Richter would have a good life. But he couldn't stand to see them struggle to make money for a reason such as that - he was perfectly fine without some of the things they had now, for example a bed. He could sleep without one. And his books; he didn't mind if he didn't have anymore texts to read and study from, he could learn some other way. Yet his grandparents stubbornly refused, insisting on ensuring Richter would have the same quality of life he had when his parents were around. So finally after a year and a half of this, Richter just up and left, leaving with his pokemon to start a new life. He earnestly believed that without him there, his grandparents would have a much easier, and happier life. After all, they wouldn't have to spend so much on a kid anymore, and could instead use what savings they have left for themselves, and retire from the jobs they took up to sustain him and his education. For a while, Richter travelled around Kalos, surviving on battling and petty thieving with only his pokemon as his companions. It wasn't much and life was pretty rough, but he survived. Things started to look up, however, when he met group of thieves who took him in and taught him their trade. Under their tutelage, Richter became rather skilled at the art with the help of his pokemon, and finally at the age of 14, left the group and went solo. During then till he joined the syndicate, Richter pulled off various burglaries, becoming known for the thefts by the notes he left behind - each signed off with the name 'Rat', a nickname he picked up while he was with the group of thieves. It was a brash move, seeing as how criminals were very cautious with any sort of name linked to them, but as he was still never caught (granted, he was, once, but he escaped!) Richter saw no harm in doing it. After every theft, he would send whatever money he could back to his grandparents, careful to make sure they didn't know it was from him and keeping only the bare minimum to keep himself alive. But still, it wasn't enough - the pay was constant or steady, and Richter never knew when he could next get his hands on cash. He needed a more stable job, and he found that in Dusk. He didn't really adhere to the values and goal of the Syndicate, true, but he felt it was the best way to go, and with barely any hesitation, joined the syndicate, becoming one of its members. pokemon - angel / mouse, female, minccino - angel is firstly very pure, playful, protective and loyal. she adores richter, and will do anything to ensure he's safe and well. this goes for masquerade and spectre as well, whom she has grown close to during the years. she is also very selfless and kind, and will help anyone she can...so long as richter doesn't object to it. she doesn't like to fight either, and is generally kept away from battle until she is the last abled pokemon. angel also likes to sing and showoff, loving coordinator battles and fighting in a similar style. like other minccinos, loves shiny things but cannot stand dirt and filth, and will use her tail to clean anything dirty. - sing; she starts to sing, and as she sings, pastel-coloured musical notes start to appear and dance in the air around her and towards a target. if the notes hit a target, the target will fall asleep. - tail slap; her tail turns straight and glows a bright white, becoming hard enough to hit a target and cause damage. after turning white, she will use her tail to hit a target multiple times. - swift; her tail glows a dull white and when she moves it, multiple white stars shoot out towards her target. - hyper voice; sucking in a breath, she releases it by singing a single note loudly, and as she holds the note, multiple white rings shoot out from its mouth towards the opponent. the rings injure upon contact, - captivate; she acts cute, and multiple magenta hearts circle about it and towards a target. lowers special attack of target if target is hit by a heart and is of opposite gender to her. - echoed voice; similar to hyper voice, except she sings a melody and the rings that shoot from her mouth are wavy, and one 'wavy ring' consists of four wavy rings, the outermost, biggest wave being white, then the second being grey, third is white and fourth is grey. gets stronger with each consecutive use. - cute charm; upon contact with minccino, the opposing pokemon with the opposite gender may become infatuated. - masquerade is rather mischievous and sly, and this, coupled with her charisma and intelligence, allows her to put up a perfect cute ruse to deceive others. while she won't act as such with richter, his family and his friends, masquerade will trick and fool others, stealing from them after they have let their guard down. she also loves to pull pranks and have fun, which adds to her mischievous nature. while typically calm and collected, masquerade can become rather angry, and own't hesitate to fight when annoyed. protective and loyal, it is easy to anger masquerade if one threatens her family, whom she considers as spectre, angel, richter and his grandparents. - assist; swiping the air, she summons a glowing light purple sphere that floats in front of her. then by swiping at the orb, she unleashes a random attack that is known by one of her teammates. - fury swipes; she unsheathes her claws which glows light purple. her claws then extend with the energy and she attacks her target, scratching at them multiple times. - play rough; she jumps at her target, biting, kicking, scratching...pretty much doing anything she can think of to hurt her target. as she fights, she kicks up a storm, and a cloud of dust surrounds the pokemon involved and has floating hearts and stars hovering about it every now and then. at a chance, this may lower the opponent's attack. - sucker punch; she swipes at her target with glowing purple paws. the attack succeeds and injures her target if the target was planning to attack with a physical or special move. otherwise, and if her paw connects, nothing will happen and the purple glow fades away. - night slash; similar to fury swipes, her claws unsheathes, glowing a dark purple and extending with the energy. she then attacks her target by swiping at them with her claws. - fake out; she claps her together once she is close to her target. when she does so, a shockwave emits from her hands, injuring her target and pushing them back, causing them to flinch if the attack hits. - limber; prevents paralysis - unlike spectre, masquerade wasn't so lucky as to escape unscathed from the blaze, and suffered a burn on her back ranging from right side of neck to just slightly after the start of her left back leg. while healed, the fur there is darker than the rest, and slightly shorter and rougher. - spectre, male, houndour - unlike the two girls, spectre is more serious and down to earth, but is just as protective and loyal to his family and friends as they are, if not more so. intelligent and excellent at teamwork, spectre helps with the coordination of the group during heists, and acts as the 'father' of the group while angel is the mother. caring, spectre does his best to ensure that angel, masquerade, and richter are well and will not be able to rest if they aren't. he will also be very quick to fight if it is to protect his family and friends, and does not mind fighting - actually, he quite likes it. it's why he tends to be the first pokemon sent out for battle. - beat up; with a howl, he calls for the aid of his teammates. together, they attack the target, each taking turns to make a hit. - fire fang; his teeth glows a bright red before being covered in flames. he then bites his target. may result in target being burned or flinching if successful. - flamethrower; he releases a red-orange stream of fire from its mouth at the opponent. may burn the target. - feint attack; he runs towards his target's left or right side, then disappears and reappears on the opposite side of his target, taking a swipe at his target with glowing white claws. - foul play; when a target attacks him, he turns the target's attack back on his target, essentially using his target's attack as his own. - inferno; flames start to circle him, and with a roar, he unleashes a strong torrent of spiralling red and black fire at his target. if it hits, the target will be burned. - flash fire;
